Virtual care, involves providing healthcare services remotely using phone call or secure video conference calls.
This approach allows our naturopathic doctors to offer consultations, assessments, treatments, and follow-ups to patients without the need for in-person visits, and our registered psychotherapist to conduct sessions by video call also.
It’s particularly useful for individuals who may have difficulty traveling to the clinic or prefer the convenience of virtual visits. Please note virtual naturopathic care is available to Ontario residents only.
Naturopathic doctors use telemedicine to conduct initial consultations, follow-up appointments, provide health education, and discuss treatment plans with patients virtually by phone or secure video calls.
It is important to note that while telemedicine offer numerous benefits, there are also limitations. Some conditions may require physical examinations or in-person assessments that cannot be fully replicated through digital means. When this is the case, your naturopathic doctor will let you know to book an in-person appointment at our clinic (or with a naturopathic doctor located near you) or to receive physical exams through your local family physician office if and when needed to ensure you continue to get comprehensive care.
Virtual care with a Registered Psychotherapist involves providing mental health and psychotherapy services remotely using secure video call. This approach allows individuals to receive therapy, counseling, and mental health support from the comfort of their own homes or any location with internet access. These sessions are conducted in a confidential and private online environment.
Here’s how virtual care works in the context of psychotherapy:
Therapeutic Support: Registered Psychotherapists offer the same level of therapeutic support and interventions during virtual sessions as they would during in-person sessions. They can help individuals address a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, trauma, and more.
Therapeutic Techniques: Registered Psychotherapists may use various therapeutic techniques during virtual sessions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, talk therapy, and other evidence-based approaches to help individuals manage their mental health concerns.
Flexibility: Virtual care offers flexibility in terms of scheduling. Individuals can choose appointment times that work best for them without the need to travel to a physical location.
Accessibility: Virtual care makes mental health services more accessible to individuals who may have barriers to in-person therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or those who prefer the anonymity of online sessions.
Continuity of Care: Virtual care allows for consistent and continuous therapy, which is essential for individuals seeking ongoing support for their mental health.
Confidentiality: Registered Psychotherapists adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality standards during virtual sessions to ensure that individuals’ personal information and discussions remain secure.
It’s important to note that while virtual care offers many benefits, it may not be suitable for everyone or for all types of mental health concerns. Some individuals may prefer face-to-face interactions, and certain conditions may require in-person assessments. Additionally, virtual care is subject to regulations and guidelines set by professional bodies and local healthcare laws.
Before engaging in virtual psychotherapy, individuals should ensure that they have a private and quiet space for sessions, a reliable internet connection, and a device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) with the necessary software for virtual communication.
